Sheikh Khaiyun al ‘Ubaid worked to break Britain’s prestige in Iraq by preparing a plan to kill the British ruler Bertram Thomas, the ruler of Shatrah on that day, but things did not come in his favour. Which, in turn, was reflected in changing the course he took in confronting the British, and thus Sheikh Khaiyun al ‘Ubaid did not join the ranks of the revolutionaries at this stage, and stood as a spectator of the revolution. This study deals with the attitude of Sheikh Khaiyun al ‘Ubaid on the outbreak of the revolution in 1920. The nature of this study necessitated dividing it into an introduction, two main sections and a conclusion. In the first section, we dealt with the role of Sheikh Khaiyun in the national movement before the outbreak of the revolution in 1920. We devoted the second section to the attitude of Sheikh Khaiyun al ‘Ubaid from the outbreak of the revolution in 1920. The study relied on a variety of sources, especially unpublished British documents. As well as Arabic and translated books, in addition to relying on the local press, which represented a rich source of information about that historical era.
