Fear of Customs and Traditions in Iraqi Feminist Narrative from 2003 -2020

Abstract

Customs and traditions hold significant value in all societies, varying from one to another. What is acceptable in one community may be undesirable in another. These practices serve as cultural and religious norms, passed down and preserved by those who believe in their validity. Fear of these customs and traditions is evident in Iraqi feminist narrative fiction, where female writers have artistically expressed this theme, enriching their novels with creative energy to leave a lasting impression on readers. The period following 2003 marked a critical juncture in Iraq's history, characterized by political, economic, social, and religious turmoil. Based on the above, the study starts with a general introduction, enlightening the major key concepts tackled along the study, including the concepts of 'Traditions and Customs', then 'Fear of these traditions and customs'. Furthermore, the study divides such concepts into; social and religious.
