Abstract

The study aimed to identify the impact of e-commerce on the competitiveness of enterprises in Saudi Arabia in Makkah by illustrating the impact of study variables (sex, age, educational qualification, experience, employment sector, company competence) on the reality of e-commerce application. The study community was made up of department managers and employees of institutions in various sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Makkah, where the sample reached 210 participants. The study used the descriptive curriculum in the form of content analysis. The study found several findings, the most important of which were the existence of statistically significant differences attributable to age variables, level of education, years of experience, sector and product, and the absence of statistically significant differences attributable to gender variability between the average responses of members of the study on the reality of the e-business environment in Saudi Arabia. The study recommended that work and attention should be paid to the development of enterprises' infrastructure for the use of e-commerce applications and that work should be done to develop training programs supportive of human cadres, i.e. employees and managers, on learning the basics of e-commerce and on e-commerce applications.
