The Problematics of Cultural Criticism: Between Description and Analysis

Abstract

      Cultural criticism represents an attempt with Western references that has transitioned to Arabic criticism through concepts and tools aimed at linking the trajectory of criticism to the horizons of culture. Cultural criticism belongs to the streams of (postmodernism) and (poststructuralism). This research provides a review of the main issues of cultural criticism using a descriptive-analytical method for the influential issues in its critical methodology and epistemological formation. The goal of this research is to offer critics insight into the main issues of cultural criticism to recognize them, attempt to overcome them, and avoid falling into their trap. Identifying the issues of cultural criticism is considered a source for overcoming or solving them. Methodical reviews and evaluations of cultural criticism are essential to understand the depth of issues that might cause a crisis in cultural criticism if they accumulate and remain unaddressed. The methodology of this research is descriptive-analytical to elucidate the issues of cultural criticism.
