    Abstract

    The purpose of this document is to propose a complete and specific definition of the concept of alternative media and to show the important role they play in the initial formations of mauritanian public opinion. The study concludes that the alternative media contribute significantly to the formation and to the creation of public opinion in its various manifestations, whether it is related to submissive or enlightened public opinion. It came out from the analysis that the alternative media have an important influence in the political decision-making. It has been clear that many of the decisions taken by governments are based on the desires of public opinion and its positions on issues discussed through social networking sites.
