    Abstract

The critical studies did not stand in the way of exploring and forming the concept of stylistics through the literary contributions of Al-Jahiz adequately. Most of his theoretical influences in the development of its mechanisms are almost ignored, and his theoretical imprints on its trajectory are almost unrecognized. Hence, this article aims to highlight the extent of the critical contribution presented by Al-Jahiz in this regard and the factors that led to the exclusion of his role in it. We use the inductive method to trace the emergence of stylistic criticism's beginnings in him. One of the most significant results reached through this is that despite being considered the actual starting point for its emergence, Al-Jahiz's critical approach to stylistics did not have precise in its initial formations. As for the exclusion of his critical contributions in this matter is attributed to his adoption of scattered writing patterns when addressing the topic.
